Paul Mendes-Flohr is Professor emeritus of Jewish thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Chicago. Among his most recent publications are Martin Buber. A Life of Faith and Dissent (Yale University Press, 2019) and Cultural Disjunctions. Post- Traditional Jewish Identities (University of Chicago Press, June 2021). He is currently preparing with Khaled Furani a volume on Truth and Reconciliation in Palestine/Israel. He wishes to emphasize that one most painfully criticizes those whom one most deeply loves.
