The Tikkun Daily Winter Fundraising Drive is in full swing– and we would like to extend a huge thank you to those who have begun to help us reach our goal! Below we have a testimonial from one of our dedicated bloggers, Saadia Faruqi, as to why it is imperative that Tikkun Daily stays afloat:

Please read the following testimonial from one of our outstanding bloggers, Saadia Faruqi:

Writing for Tikkun Daily is for me, a pleasure beyond words. It’s also sometimes a puzzle to my readers. What is a Muslim woman doing writing about American Muslim issues on a Jewish blog? The answer to me is simple. Jewish and Islamic values are very similar – a love for the Almighty, and a desire to do good deeds to help make the world a better place for all of His creation. Unfortunately we live in a global environment where making enemies is seen as more beneficial than making friends, and finding differences more important than looking for similarities. So instead of focusing on our similar reverence of the Israelite prophets, our daily and annual acts of worship, and our public service, we find it easier to talk about us versus them, about Jews versus Muslims, about hate and violence. To me, Tikkun Daily is a voice of reason and friendship in such a negative environment. The bloggers would for the most part rather see bridges being built than people being divided along religious and ethnic lines. As a Muslim blogger for Tikkun Daily I feel that I’m playing a small part in making the voices of American Muslims heard by their Jewish neighbors. From the comments I receive on my posts I realize that many readers have understood the Muslim perspective on a number of issues for the first time. That, in itself, is a great thing, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be my faith’s spokesperson. Please support Tikkun Daily not just with your donations but also by sharing the various blog posts, so that the voice of moderation and sanity can be heard loud and clear across the globe.
