Riyana Rebecca Sang is an herbalist, writer, and devotee of Mama Gaia who has worked as a priestess and teacher within the Reclaiming Tradition for over a decade. Her most recent writing passions are heartfelt, personal essays about what it’s like to be a street activist and conscious participant in the Great Turning – a term coined by Joanna Macy that referes to “the essential adventure of our time: the shift from the industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization.”
Riyana has taught workshops in women’s spirituality, herbalism, and paganism for over ten years, focusing on the ways that our spiritual practices can deepen the important work we do in the world. She is a contributing writer to Occupy Paganism, writes regularly for Reclaiming Quarterly and two blogs: Gathering Thyme and Wild Serentiy. She lives in Berkeley, CA, with her loving cat Emily Moon and fiancé Jason Scarecrow, who sometimes unwittingly finds himself featured in her blog posts.
