Rev. Lynice Pinkard has dedicated her life to fostering solidarity by teasing out the interconnectedness of forms of suffering and injustice. Interested in the intersections between spiritual healing and organizing, Rev. Pinkard has worked extensively with gay and lesbian people of color, people living with HIV and AIDS, and families of victims of gun violence and other forms of trauma. Most recently, she was called as the senior pastor of First Congregational Church of Oakland, where she is building an intercultural community committed to healing from and resistance to systems of domination and oppression—something she calls “empire affective disorder.”
