Rabbi Michael Lerner will be the keynote speaker on Sunday evening, Sept. 7th in Ashland Oregon at the Awards Dinner held by the Peace House. You can purchase tickets here or by calling 541-482-9625.
Rabbi Michael Lerner and Cat Zavis, executive director of the Network of Spiritual Progressives and empathic communication trainer and mediator will co-lead two separate workshops, Sept. 7th and 8th. Both workshops will be held at the Peace House at 345 S. Mountain Avenue, Ashland, Oregon.
Sunday, Sept. 7th from 2:00-5:00pm, Rabbi Lerner and Cat Zavis will co-lead a workshop called: Grieving for Israel and Palestine: a training on how empathy can become a path to Middle East peace. The cost for this workshop is $20.00.
In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn techniques to deal with your distress, rage, and upset about the situation in Israel and Palestine and also have opportunities to learn and practice skills for hearing those who don’t agree with you and expressing yourself more effectively. You will leave feeling empowered to engage in healthy discourse, even with those with whom you disagree.
The workshop will include various mediums for self-expression and compassionate listening and speaking as well as teaching and coaching in Empathic Communication and conflict resolution.
If you and a friend or close relative are struggling to talk about this important issue, we encourage both of you to attend this workshop together – you will have an opportunity to hear each other and deepen your understanding and compassion. And of course you are welcome to come alone.
Monday, Sept. 8th from 9:30am – 3:00pm, they will co-lead a training called: Transformative Activist Training – for people who wish to overcome the grip of the political Right on American politics. This training will provide an introduction to the strategy and techniques of the Network of Spiritual Progressives. The cost for this training is $35.00.
In this workshop you will learn some critical skills and tools to build a spiritually progressive social change movement that can bring together people from across political divides who are united in their desire to have a world based on love, kindness, generosity, social and economic justice and environmental sanity.
Here is what one person said after attending a Transformative Activist Training by Rabbi Lerner and Cat Zavis: “I have been to too many “transformational change” trainings and may be somewhat jaded by the limited outcomes I usually receive. Yet the transformative activist training by the Network of Spiritual Progressives (NSP) simply knocked my socks off. A real class act.Very solid content on the New Bottom Line(transforming our society from an obsession with acquiring goods to helping connect people with their deepest yearnings for a world of meaning and purpose)paired with a very solid process of learning about empathy and resilience. . . all in just 3 1/2 days. Shazam!” ~Wayne Benenson, Ph.D.
The cost for both is $45.00.
