Peter Beinart's Latest Brilliant Expose' of the Pro-Israel Community's Ignorance & Bigotry

More

Check out Peter Beinart’s latest piece on the American Jewish community. It is brilliant.
It is about the cocoon American Jews live in when it comes to the reality of Israel and Palestine.  They know nothing and care less. And their leaders who do know intentionally work to keep them ignorant.
Add to that a lot of bigotry and you have the self-described “pro-Israel” community today. No, not the Jewish community — the Israel-centered minority of the Jewish community (of which I am one).
There is no need for me to say anymore.  Beinart says it better.
Yes, I am way to his left but, nonetheless, I think he is the most important figure in American Jewish life today. If the Jewish community here has a future, it will be Beinart and others like him who will exemplify it.
One more thing: this article will drive the AIPAC and other organizational hacks nuts. They can ignore people like me but Beinart, he’s supposed to be one of them. God, they hate him. And they should. He is going to bring them down (God willing, Ins’hallah, please Jesus).

  1. I Just read Bienart expose; I agree with you, even though Bienart have not totally and completely told all the truth about the facts of the Israeli /Palestinian tragedy , he is opening a door and maybe few windows to a subject that intentionally has been ignored and closed by the American Jewish leadership. As of the whys? That is up to the rest of American public, and the Jewish community to discover and discuss among themselves . My humble guess would be, keep them in the dark, keep them stupid , so they can go along with our plan and they would defend Israel blindly and stupidly, like those two commentators (may I say repeatedly, they have done that, you would think, they might bother to be honest once and attempt to educate themselves, unless, they are part of the intentional programe.)above.

    • Monir, I guess it is better to wrap ones self around ideas and explore them for different angles than werap ones self around explosives and hop on a bus. There is something Palestinian activists can learn for Jews.

  2. Monir, you don’t have to be part of a conspiracy to be filled with hate. Hating one’s enemy makes some feel more righteous, I suppose. I guess I would be offended if they didn’t hate me. Better to be hated than ignored, eh?

  3. Mr. Rosenberg, thank you for your thoughtful comments and for sharing Mr. Bienart’s important article. Mankind’s development is due to our ability to learn from one another, our catastrophes are due to our penchant to judge one another.

  4. I actually do hope that Jewish Americans become more exposed to the Palestinian Arab perspective.
At this point, relatively few Jewish Americans know that it is now mainstream opinion in Palestinian Arab discourse that there was never any Jewish temple on the Temple Mount, ever. Relatively few Jewish Americans know that almost universally Palestinian Arabs deny that Jews are a people, and believe disproven notions such as the Khazar hoax. Few Jewish Americans are aware that honor killings are still practiced in the West Bank, and that Mahmoud Abbas’ received a PhD for denying the Holocaust. All of that indeed needs to change, so I look forward to the (true) Palestinian Arab perspective being shared with Jewish folks.
