Investigation Continues into Jewish Youths' Assault on Palestinians in Zion Square

More

In this chilling article from Haaretz, Nir Hasson details a brutal attack by a gang of Jewish Israeli youth on three young Palestinians right near the center of Zion Square in Jerusalem. Several suspects have been arrested but the underlying racism in Israeli society that made this possible has not yet been addressed.
As Hasson reports one eyewitness’s account on Facebook,

“It’s late at night, and I can’t sleep. My eyes are full of tears for a good few hours now and my stomach is turning inside out with the question of the loss of humanity, the image of God in mankind, a loss that I am not willing to accept.”

Please take the time to read this article and weigh in on this hugely important topic.

  1. Netanyahu connected Abbas by telephone and let him know that the police wil find the perpetrators.
Juts a few days ago was the 10 anniversary of the Sbarro suicide bombing. here is what the driver of the bomber had to saying a interview

“Two minutes later, they said on the radio that the number had increased to five. I wanted to hide my smile, but I just couldn’t. Allah be praised, it was great. As the number of dead kept increasing, the passengers were applauding. They didn’t even know that I was among them.
On the way back [to Ramallah], we passed a Palestinian police checkpoint, and the policemen were laughing. One of them stuck his head in and said: “Congratulations to us all.” Everybody was happy”
Hamas driver released in the Shalit deal said this in an interview.
    Rabbi, Think about it

  2. just as the yeshiva faculty who produced Yitzhak Rabin’s murderer can’t claim clean hands, these thugs have teachers and mentors who are complicit. If their agenda is about racism and supremacy, it is not about Judaism.

  3. Sammy,
I suppose you’re point is that the evil perpetrated by the suicide bomber and the ensuing inhumane response by the Hamas driver justifies the evil perpetrated by the Jewish teenagers and the ensuing response by one of the teenagers responsible for the attack – one, totally lacking in humanity.
    Rubbish!

    • Jabe, I guess you missed the the Israelis government condemnation of the attack and the arrest of the perpetrators. The driver of the suicide bomber, along with many of her fellow nationals celebrated the Hamas ordered bombing. Try real hard to think act it and come when you get the response correct.
Fortunately the actions of those teens did not result in deaths. You might want to take a look at the site of a suicide coming of heaven forbid happens again.

  4. Sammy,
What is required from you is a clear cut condemnation of what these teens did.. What Palestinians did in the past or the governments condemnation of these acts do not in any way lessen the hatred and violence exhibited thru them . These youths hate Arabs and perpetrate a violence against them that is unacceptable. No rationale or comparison lessen the evil of their actions and the culture which promotes it.
Finally, is it really fortunate that none died? Not according to the remarks of one of the perpetrators.
And, just perhaps, to be physcially and pyschologically damaged for life is worse than death itself.
Compassion in the hearts of these youths is totally lacking. Isn’t this a concern for you and something you should be addressing rather than the Palestinian response to suicide bombings which occurred 10 years ago. The fact that you are not says a lot about you.

    • Are you denying that there is hate on both sides? Yes, Israel has its racists, but it is not a racist country, nor is it a country of cold blooded murders endorsed by the government. yes, there are youth lot there who are willing to randomly attack a victim based on ethnicity, something that is not any different than Western Europe and the US. There have been a full lineup up of palestinians youth willing to wrap themselves up in explosives and blow themselves up on the nearest bus, cafe, hotel or synagogue. yes, it has been baste for some time but NOT FOR LACK OF TRYING. Thankfully the wall has prevented suicide bombers coming in from Jenin, Tulkarem, Khakelia and Gaza. Otherwise we would not be telling about is as the past.and BTW, it was far less than 10 years ago.
yes the attack was bad. But the ruth have been arrested and yes, the President of Israel, Peres has been making the rounds denouncing the violence and meeting with you, Netanyahu made a statement that there is no room for such hatred in Israel.
It really sickens me that people lie you only come out of the woodwork when attacks are perpetrated by Israelis. Yes, I condemn it, because Israel is better than that. The Israel leadership is far more ethical and moral than Hamas.

Finally, what is the casualty count in Syria? Oh, I guess it has taken a back seat to condemning Israel. You are a hypocrite!

  5. I think Jabe7 to rethink his attitude about Israeli society

Up until now, we believed that this was an isolated case, marginal, but it isn’t,” Rivlin said. “This is a micro cosmos of a national problem that could endanger Israeli democracy.”

The teen is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Thursday. His doctors say he is in good condition and explained that the teen was beaten in the chest, which caused Arrhythmia. The doctors added that it was the only major blow he suffered from and it was what caused respiratory loss.
Rivlin explained that the purpose of his visit was to apologize for the events of last Thursday: “We are not just sorry, we are also angry. You are a son of Jerusalem, we are all citizens of Jerusalem, and we need to care for each other. It is hard to see you in hospital because of something so inconceivable.
“The time has come for us to stop covering up. It isn’t possible that any man be abandoned, even if that person is someone I disagree with. This is a shared responsibility, of every leader and every publicly elected official.”
Rivlin added that with the coming of the new school year, the education system needs tp put the issue at the front page of the school curriculum.
