I, too, am put off by the language of feudalism and sexism in this passage, in addition to the arrogant presumption or assertion of the passage that the author knows "the truth" better than any other searcher. I believe, the divine spirit and spark of consciousness is the mystery of life beyond any mortal's capacity to grasp but we each have a unique piece of it, Further, it is within all matter in a co-evolving world, and larger than the ancient concept of God depicted in this passage as the self-made clockmaker and operator of the universe. Beautiful poetry and metaphor, but let's be careful to not take it literally.

This was such a beautiful passage, it brought tears to my eyes in recognition of its truth.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
My only wish is for more and more people to recognize the words and its meaning.
God lies within us all. We just need to be aware, and live it in our every day lives.
Submitted with love.

I have great difficulty with the hierarchical nature of the language in this piece. I, too, am a mystic. And I know the need to serve others, to overcome my own small ego, and to find resonance in something larger than myself. The glimmer of that mystic light is present in this piece in "He who hides himself within His creatures, like a spider in its web....hidden in the hearts of all creatures." But, for me, this mystic understanding is offset by the feudal language describing Shiva as "Lord of lords, King of kings, God of gods, ruler of all." I'm used to translating God language into Goddess language in my life; I have to in order to gain wisdom from people who image the Divine as masculine. But as a 21st century American, I have difficulty translating the language of feudalism -- which ended hundreds of years ago in the West -- into social terms that are fitting today.
