The new humanism of the secular humanists doesn't go far enough in my opinion. How about a humanism that is truly spiritual but not religious. A humanism founded on the understanding that this universe is permeated by consciousness. A humanism that will liberate humans from the dogmas of religion but will not throw out the baby (spirituality) with the bathwater (religion). A humanism that will recognize the worth of all living beings (not just human beings). This is the Neo-Humanism described by the Indian philosopher P.R Sarkar. More information is at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prabhat_Ranjan_Sarkar#Neohumanism
