Asma -- Welcome aboard. As an American feminist, I'm excited to learn more about the situation of Muslim women in the Islamic world and worldwide from a woman who has been thinking about it, obviously, for quite a while (despite how young you look in your photo). I went to altmuslimah and found it an extremely interesting site. I will go back again.

Many years ago when I still taught in the Women's Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I wanted to start a journal that looked at the situation of women in many different countries, knowing that patriarchy has different guises in each. It didn't happen, but I continue to be interested in women everywhere. Your nuanced perspective in this post makes me want to hear everything else you have to say. I will learn a lot.
