I've always resisted writing top ten lists. Every time I do, I consistently forget to include records I believe to have been somehow important. However, as a musician, I am also the kind of person who assiduously checks critics' year-end lists, always lamenting what I find to be their inevitable omissions. In no particular order, here are the ten new CDs that I remember as having made my year better:

Now that the Al-Aksa Intifada is considered over, it's worthwhile remembering how those of us living in the Diaspora experienced the war. This diary entry, written almost exactly three years ago following a work trip to London, says a lot about how conflicted the uprising made many of us feel as we recognized how difficult it was to truly escape the violence.
