In declining our invitation to write to Obama, one person perfectly expressed what many feel. We asked if we could quote him, and he kindly agreed.
Thanks ... Y'know, I'm sure things will, uh, change (and maybe even by Tikkun's deadline), but for the moment, and for the first time in my life, I'm content to not kibbitz my president. I'm simply grateful that he seems to be way better at his job than I am at mine, let alone his. Every time I shouted advice at my TV during his campaign, he was wise to ignore me. I'd pray, if I were the praying kind, that he doesn't drag us into a morass in Afghanistan and that a giant public works program is rammed into place, but I'll happily sip my Kool-Aid until he royally screws up.
All the best,
Art Spiegelman
